RRI.CO.ID, Thailand - A para-swimmer from Jambi, Bayu Putra Yuda, successfully won a gold medal for Indonesia. He successfully finished fastest in the final of the Men's 200m Freestyle S10 para-swimming event in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

He was able to silence the representative of the host country, Thailand, who has been his rival in recent years. In addition, he also set a new record in the men's 200m Freestyle S10 event with a time of 2 minutes 18 seconds.

"Alhamdulillah, and this is the first match in the 200m freestyle, and Alhamdulillah I was able to win gold and break the record," he stated after the match in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, on Thursday, 22 January 2026.

According to the man born on January 1st, the S10 200m Freestyle record belongs to him because the event was only opened for competition at the ASEAN Para Games in Thailand.

"That number had never been competed for before, so it was opened and I immediately became the record holder," Bayu said.

The man, born in 1993, believes that the power of prayer from beloved ones and family, along with successfully overcoming one's own ego, is the key to achieving the highest level of success.

Of course, prayers from family are important. I happen to be married with children and a wife, and that's what motivates me to become a champion. "I dedicate this gold to the Indonesian people, my family," he said.

“Because this is a long number, you have to be able to resist yourself. If we get carried away by our emotions, we'll run out of energy early and be left behind at the end. So, it's really going against yourself, essentially. "Keep your spirits up, friends. Our enemy isn't them; our enemy is ourselves," he stated.
