Prabowo Inaugurates 204 New TNI Units, Including Six Military Commands

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has inaugurated 204 new units of the Indonesian Military (TNI), covering the three branches of the military: the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The inauguration took place during the ceremony marking the TNI’s 81st anniversary at the TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Monday, October 5, 2026.

This year’s commemoration carried the theme “A Strong TNI Together with the People, a Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia.” “With the grace of Almighty God, I, Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, hereby inaugurate 204 new TNI units,” Prabowo said while leading the ceremony.

Of the 204 newly inaugurated units, six are new Regional Military Commands (Kodam). They are Kodam XXV/Sultan Mahmud Riayat Syah in the Riau Islands Province, Kodam XXVI/Mataram in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, and Kodam XXVII/Sobe Sonbai in East Nusa Tenggara Province.

The other three are Kodam XXVIII/Moloku Kie Raha in North Maluku Province, Kodam XXIX/Mambruk in Central Papua Province, and Kodam XXX/Rinambora in West Nusa Tenggara Province.

In addition to the new Kodams, the inauguration covered a number of units across the three branches of the TNI. These include one Rapid Response Forces Division, one Marine Infantry Brigade, one Rapid Response Forces Brigade, 30 Territorial Development Infantry Brigades, and 150 Territorial Development Infantry Brigades.

Prabowo also inaugurated one Cavalry Brigade, one Field Artillery Brigade, one Air Defense Artillery Brigade, four Marine Infantry Brigades, and three Rapid Response Forces Brigades.

Meanwhile, units established under the Air Force include two Air Squadrons, two Air Force Radar Units, and one Air Force Training Squadron.

Prabowo emphasized that strengthening the TNI is aimed at ensuring Indonesia’s defense capabilities while protecting the people.

“We build the TNI for that purpose, to defend ourselves and to protect our people,” The President said.

In addition to the inauguration and establishment of the new units, the 81st TNI anniversary ceremony also featured the presentation of honorary awards, a troop inspection, a moment of silence, and an address by President Prabowo.
