RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Trade Minister Budi Santoso is heading to Milwaukee for G20 trade talks. He will attend the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting from 30 September to 1 October 2026.
The meeting will address global trade priorities under the United States’ 2026 G20 presidency. Indonesia plans to advocate national trade interests and support multilateral trade.
“Indonesia’s participation in G20 TMM is an opportunity to voice national trade interests,” Santoso said in a written statement on Monday, 28 September 2026. He also pledged support for fair, open, rules-based multilateral trade systems.
The trade minister will address four priority topics during the ministerial discussions. They include coercive food trade actions, structural excess capacity, Most Favored Nation (MFN), and forced labor.
Indonesia views G20 commitments as influential in global trade rules and exports. Santoso said Indonesia would seek fairness, WTO compliance, and business certainty.
He will also discuss eliminating forced labor within global supply chains. The agenda additionally covers Most Favored Nation principles and structural excess capacity.
Trade Minister Budi Santoso is scheduled to meet B20 representatives under the auspices of U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He will also hold bilateral meetings with several Indonesian trading partners.
The minister will meet Indonesia’s Consul General in Chicago during his visit. They will discuss strengthening promotion and market access for Indonesian products.
