Indonesia Port Visit Mission 2026 Builds Peace in the South Pacific

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Deputy Minister of Social Affairs, Agus Jabo Priyono, has expressed his support for the health, humanitarian, and diplomatic mission of the Port Visit 2026 Task Force to the South Pacific.

He hopes the mission will strengthen Indonesia’s ties with friendly nations while also promoting global peace.

“Today, I am attending the send‑off ceremony for the hospital ship KRI dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo‑991 vessel, which is embarking on health, humanitarian, and diplomatic missions,” Deputy Minister Agus Jabo said during the departure of the Integrated Port Visit 2026 Task Force at Pier 106, Tanjung Priok.

The task force departed aboard the KRI dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo‑991 on Monday, September 14, 2026. Over approximately 60 days, the mission will visit Vanuatu, Fiji, the Solomon Islands, and Papua New Guinea, running from September 14 to November 12, 2026.

Agus Jabo hopes all humanitarian activities will proceed according to the established targets, viewing the mission as an opportunity for Indonesia to strengthen relations with friendly nations.

“Hopefully, these humanitarian activities will meet the set targets,” he said.

He also hopes the relationships fostered through this mission will contribute to global security and peace. Agus Jabo further called for support for the Indonesian Military (TNI) as they carry out the mission.

“Keep moving forward, TNI. Let us uphold humanity and lasting peace for all mankind,” he stated.

Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs, Gen. (Ret.) Djamari Chaniago, said the mission is not solely related to defense but also forms part of Indonesia’s diplomatic and humanitarian outreach in the South Pacific.

During the voyage, the task force will conduct social and health outreach programs, including general and dental medical services.

It is also carrying 1,000 packages of material aid and will plant 800 coconut seedlings. Other activities include the renovation of places of worship, an open‑ship event, a diplomatic reception, cultural exchanges, and joint sports activities. The task force will also conduct social outreach activities in Wanam, South Papua.

The 2026 Port Visit Task Force is led by Navy Col. (P) Benedictus Hery Murwanto, Commanding Officer of KRI WSH‑991. A total of 318 personnel--comprising members of the TNI, Indonesian National Police (Polri), ministries and agencies, volunteers, journalists, and university students--are participating in the voyage.
