VP Gibran Calls for Stronger Preparation for Indonesian Trainees Bound for Japan

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming has called for stronger preparation and training for Indonesian prospective trainees who will work in Japan. Comprehensive preparation is considered important to develop skilled, adaptable workers who understand the culture and work ethic of their destination country.

Vice President Gibran made the remarks when he met the Chairman of the Indonesian Association of Kenshusei Entrepreneurs (IKAPEKSI), Pranyoto Widodo, along with its officials at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday, August 28, 2026. During the meeting, Gibran and IKAPEKSI discussed ways to strengthen prospective trainees' readiness before they depart for Japan, including establishing an integrated training center.

Pranyoto emphasized the importance of establishing such a training center. He said it would help ensure that prospective trainees have the mental readiness, cultural understanding, and strong work ethic needed before entering Japan’s industrial workforce.

"With a functioning training center in place, all Indonesians who are preparing to go to Japan would have to undergo training there for approximately two weeks on Japanese workplace culture and everyday life in Japan. This is extremely important," he said, as quoted from the Indonesian Vice Presidential Secretariat on Friday.

IKAPEKSI is a national organization that brings together Indonesian former trainees, job-training participants, and professionals who have completed programs in Japan. After returning home, the alumni are expected to contribute by developing their skills, transferring knowledge, and establishing businesses.

Pranyoto said Gibran responded positively to the proposal to establish the integrated training center. He said the support was an important step toward improving the quality of Indonesian prospective trainees while maximizing the benefits of their work experience in Japan.

“His response was very, very positive, and he strongly welcomed the establishment of the training center,” he said.
