RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between the education sector and industry to prepare a workforce capable of adapting to technological advances, particularly in the electric vehicle (EV) sector.

He made the statement during a visit to PT Tangkas Motor Listrik’s assembly factory in Tangerang, Banten, on Thursday, July 30, 2026. The Vice President observed the EV assembly process and its production ecosystem, and also tested one of the electric motorcycles produced by the company.

Following the visit, VP Gibran held a dialogue with vocational high school and university students who had previously joined a workshop on the EV production ecosystem. One student asked about the government’s expectations regarding the role of schools and students in supporting the industry’s development.

In response, the Vice President stressed that industrial progress must be built through close collaboration between industry players and the education sector.

“We want everyone here to participate. Industry, schools, and industry players must collaborate, both in research and in adapting curricula to meet current needs, all related to electric vehicles. What is taught in schools must be relevant to what is happening in industry,” he said.

He further highlighted the importance of industry’s role in raising public awareness about the benefits of EVs as part of accelerating the national energy transition. “Going forward, we hope industry can also contribute to education. I believe there needs to be education in the market about the importance of electric motorcycles and electric cars,” he added.

VP Gibran underscored that EV development not only benefits the environment but also strengthens national energy security by reducing dependence on imported fuel. “Besides being more environmentally friendly, we must strive to reduce oil and fuel imports. One solution is electric motorcycles,” he said. (Misni Parjiati)
