RRI.CO.ID, Semarang - Indonesia's President, Prabowo Subianto, personally inaugurated the revitalization of Semarang Tawang Station in Semarang, Central Java, on Thursday, July 30, 2026. The revitalization of the station, one of the oldest and most historic stations in Indonesia, is an effort to preserve cultural heritage while improving the comfort and experience of train passengers.

Indra Wahyudi, a train user waiting for his train to depart, said he noticed a significant improvement in the station's condition. He noted that Semarang Tawang Station, which has been operating since 1914, now appears tidier and more orderly.

"Yes, the building is nicer now, and it's more orderly for passengers and pick-ups. It's more organized," he said.

Besides the more comfortable building, Indra also believes the station area's layout has improved significantly. One of the changes he noticed most was the flooding issue.

"So it's better, it doesn't flood," he said.

Yusi, a Salatiga resident who frequently uses Semarang Tawang Station, echoed the sentiment. She noted that the station building is now tidier and more organized.

"Yes, I've done it often. It's neater and more organized," he said.

Yusi hopes that the station revitalization will be followed by continuous improvements in the quality of railway services. Hence, public comfort in using public transportation could be enhanced.

"(I hope) the comfort and service will be improved further, even better (than in the past)," he said.
