RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Commission VI of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) approved the ratification of four strategic trade agreements through Presidential Regulations. The decision was made during a Working Meeting (Raker) and a Hearing Meeting (RDP) between Commission VI, the Minister of Trade, and the Head of the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) on Monday, July 21, 2026.

In the meeting's conclusions, Deputy Chairperson of Commission VI, Andre Rosiade, emphasized that the approval is expected to further strengthen Indonesia's trade cooperation with several international partners while enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesian products in the global market.

"Commission VI received explanations from the Minister of Trade and the Head of the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) regarding the proposed ratification of the agreements," Andre said while reading the meeting's conclusions at the Nusantara I Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, as quoted by dpr.go.id.

The four agreements approved include: First Free Trade Agreement between the Republic of Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and its Member States, Second Protocol to Amend the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA), ThirdASEAN Framework Agreement on Food Safety Regulation, Fourth protocol to Enhance the ASEAN–People's Republic of China Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement.

According to him, all four agreements were approved for ratification through Presidential Regulations. This step is considered important as part of Indonesia's commitment to strengthening regional economic integration while expanding trade access with partner countries.

"Commission VI agrees with the Minister of Trade that the ratification of these agreements should be carried out through Presidential Regulations," he said.

In addition to granting its approval, Commission VI reminded the government to comply with all applicable laws and regulations throughout the ratification process. The DPR also requested that every Presidential Regulation concerning the ratification of the four agreements be formally notified to the House as part of the implementation of its parliamentary oversight function.

"Furthermore, Commission VI requests that the Presidential Regulations concerning the ratification of these agreements be submitted to the House of Representatives, in accordance with Article 84 paragraph (7) of Law No. 7 of 2014 on Trade," Andre conveyed.
