RRI.CO.ID, Medan - The Ministry of Communication and Digital, through its regional Technical Implementation Units (UPT), is holding a joint viewing of the 2026 World Cup Final simultaneously at 100 locations across Indonesia. This joint viewing activity, broadcast on TVRI, is the government's effort to provide free broadcasts of the 2026 World Cup so that Indonesians can enjoy the global football competition as shared entertainment.

Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, stated that this initiative provides a momentum to bring Indonesians together through a shared experience. "We thank the President for providing entertainment for the people through free World Cup broadcasts on TVRI," she said while opening the joint viewing of the 2026 World Cup Final at the Garuda Spark Innovation Hub, Pos Bloc Medan, North Sumatra, on Monday, July 20, 2026.

The Minister said that widespread access to World Cup broadcasts provides a space for community togetherness and demonstrates how technology can connect Indonesia with the world. "The main impression is, of course, that the match unites. Not only our hearts here, but the entire world," she said.

According to her, the World Cup is not just about the final result, but also about the values of sportsmanship, struggle, and unity. "In a competition, the most important thing is sportsmanship and effort," she said.

Minister Meutya also expressed her appreciation to TVRI for returning as the official broadcaster of the World Cup after 24 years. She considered this momentum a milestone in the history of Indonesian public broadcasting.

Edwin Hidayat Abdullah, Director General of Digital Ecosystems at the Ministry of Communication and Digital, said that the free World Cup broadcasting through TVRI means that people no longer have to pay additional fees to watch the matches. "Thank God, this year the government, through TVRI, allocated the budget so that all Indonesians can enjoy the World Cup without having to pay extra, without having to rent a decoder, or anything else," Edwin said.
