RRI.CO.ID, Medan - Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, attended the Watch Together event for the 2026 World Cup Final in Martubung, Medan, on Sunday, July 19, 2026. She invited the public to make the 2026 World Cup a moment to strengthen national unity thru the spirit of sportsmanship, struggle, and togetherness.

Meutya said that public broadcasting presents not only sports matches, but also serves as a space for togetherness for all Indonesian people. She mentioned that the return of TVRI as the official broadcaster of the 2026 World Cup after 24 years is a manifestation of the government's commitment to expanding broadcast access to various regions.

"We are very proud because after 24 years, in 2026, TVRI will once again be the official broadcaster of the World Cup," She said.

According to her, this success aligns with President Prabowo Subianto's directive for people across Indonesia to enjoy quality broadcasts without being limited by their place of residence.

"This is all thanks to the President and his intention to provide entertainment for the people wherever they are in Indonesia, including in Martubung," The Minister said.

Furthermore, Meutya believes that the greatest value of the World Cup lies not only in the matches on the field but also in the spirit of sportsmanship, struggle, and unity that can inspire society.

"Let's learn from this world football event. Let's learn sportsmanship, the meaning of struggle, and that among all the matches, the most important are joy, cheerfulness, and a sense of unity," she stated.

She hopes that this spirit is also reflected in the way the community enjoys the matches peacefully, with mutual respect, and upholding sportsmanship. "The World Cup belongs to everyone. Let's celebrate it with sportsmanship, mutual respect, and unity. That is the spirit we want to build together," Meutya conveyed.
