RRI.CO.ID, Tangerang – AirNav Indonesia, an aviation navigation service provider, is strengthening cross-sector collaboration to improve aviation operational efficiency. This effort is being carried out through the hosting of the 2026 National Aviation Fuel Efficiency Forum (NAFEF) at AirNav Indonesia’s headquarters in Tangerang, Banten, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

The forum was initiated by the Indonesian Pilots Association (IPI). NAFEF 2026 brought together regulators, airlines, air navigation service providers, aviation fuel suppliers, aircraft manufacturers, academics, aviation observers, and pilots to formulate fuel efficiency strategies that can be implemented at the operational level.

AirNav Indonesia’s CEO, Avirianto Suratno, stated that fuel efficiency has now become a strategic issue for the aviation industry, given geopolitical dynamics, fluctuations in jet fuel prices, and demands for carbon emission reductions. Therefore, collaboration across the entire aviation ecosystem is needed so that efficiency not only reduces operational costs but also strengthens the industry’s safety, competitiveness, and sustainability.

“Fuel efficiency cannot be achieved by a single institution alone. It requires collaboration among regulators, air navigation service providers, airlines, aircraft manufacturers, energy providers, and pilots,” he said, as quoted in a written press release.

As the sole provider of air navigation services in Indonesia, Avirianto emphasized that AirNav Indonesia continues to transform its operations through Free Route Operations (FRTO), Continuous Climb Operations (CCO), Continuous Descent Operations (CDO), direct routing, and more optimal air traffic management to reduce holding time in the air. These innovations help airlines save on fuel consumption without compromising aviation safety standards.

AirNav Indonesia is also accelerating the implementation of Flight and Flow Information for a Collaborative Environment (FF-ICE) as part of the digital transformation of air navigation services. This system will integrate flight operational data, making air traffic flow management more collaborative, predictive, and efficient.

On the same occasion, the Chairman of the Indonesian Pilots Association (IPI), Muammar Reza Nugraha, said that NAFEF serves as a collaborative space that brings together all stakeholders down to the operational level.

“This forum serves as a platform for all stakeholders to take on roles and responsibilities in achieving fuel efficiency. The collaboration established here is expected to result in flights that are safer, more comfortable, more efficient, and more affordable,” he said.
