RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Financial Services Authority (OJK), together with the Ministry of Communication and Digital and the national banking industry, agreed to strengthen efforts to combat scams and online gambling thru the enhancement of a safe, trustworthy, and integrity-based digital financial ecosystem.
The commitment was reaffirmed at the OJK Banking Forum 2026 themed "Strengthening Banking Information Technology Governance and Enhancing Efforts to Combat Financial Crimes and Online Gambling in the Digital Era," held at the OJK Office, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 15, 2026.
The forum also produced a joint declaration to strengthen the integrity of the national financial system and protect the public from the misuse of online gambling activities and various forms of financial crime to bolster Indonesia's digital economic resilience.
The Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners, Friderica Widyasari Dewi, said that the current challenge for the financial services sector is not only to maintain the health of the industry but also to protect the public from various evolving financial crime methods.
"Today, our task is not only to ensure that banks and financial service companies remain healthy, but also, most importantly, to protect consumers from various scams and online gambling that continue to lurk in society and can undermine the credibility and trust in our financial system," Friderica said.
According to her, the rapid pace of digitalization is accompanied by increasingly complex patterns of cybercrime. Therefore, the financial services industry needs to strengthen governance, risk management, and consumer protection to maintain public trust in the financial system.
"I invite the entire banking industry to make information technology risk management a part of the organizational strategy." Support for the eradication of online gambling should not merely be a regulatory obligation, but must come from the heart of us all," she said.
Friderica emphasized that the synergy between regulators, the government, the banking industry, and all stakeholders is key to building a safe, trustworthy, and integrity-driven digital financial ecosystem, while also strengthening the protection of society from the threats of financial crime in the digital era.
