RRI.CO.ID, Surabaya - The Ministry of Transmigration is intensifying efforts to introduce the economic potential of transmigration areas to wider markets by leveraging digital ecosystems.

The ministry is partnering with content creators and affiliates to promote leading products and expand market access for transmigrant communities.

Transmigration Minister Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara said transmigration areas hold vast potential in agriculture, plantations, mining, oil and gas, and tourism. This potential, he added, can be realized through collaboration between government, businesses, academics, and digital economy stakeholders.

“Transmigration today is no longer just about moving people, but about creating a new economic ecosystem,” Minister Iftitah said on the sidelines of the FYC Fest – Digital Ecosystem Festival in Surabaya on Saturday, July 11, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The ministry is developing the concept of digital transmigration by building a comprehensive economic ecosystem, ranging from human resource development and mentoring to technology utilization and market access for products from transmigration areas.

He noted that content creators and affiliates can become part of the marketing chain for transmigration products, increasing commodity value and boosting community welfare.

“We will work together, and transmigrants will also become content creators and affiliates,” he said.

To strengthen development in transmigration areas, the government is also involving universities in community mentoring. Last year, 2,000 researchers from seven universities were deployed to transmigration areas.

This year, 1,476 participants from 10 top universities, along with 143 local universities, will conduct research, mentoring, and community empowerment.

He cited mangoes from East Java as an example. While competitive in the global market, they cannot be exported to Japan due to fruit fly infestations. To address this, the ministry will partner with the National Quarantine Agency and the Ministry of Agriculture to boost exports and increase farmers’ profits.

Meanwhile, East Java Deputy Governor Emil Elestianto Dardak said advances in digital technology must be harnessed to strengthen regional productivity. He emphasized positioning East Java as a hub between transmigration origins and destinations by reinforcing business networks.

Emil also encouraged East Java businesses to purchase goods from transmigration areas, creating economic synergies. The provincial administration continues to expand digital connectivity to remote areas to support economic growth.

“The current transmigration paradigm has shifted to developing an inter-regional economic ecosystem interconnected through digital technology, thereby creating new growth centers and strengthening the national economy,” he said. ***
