RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Public Broadcasting Institution Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI), officially launched the English Corner program in Jakarta on Thursday, July 2, 2026. This program is one of RRI's efforts to provide accessible, engaging, and youth-friendly English language learning.

The Director of Program and Production at LPP RRI, Mistam, said that the English Corner was introduced to encourage Indonesian youth to master English as one of the widely used languages in the world.

"This Pro 2 English Corner is launching, and one of its goals is to encourage young people across Indonesia to master various languages. One of the global languages is English," Mistam said.

According to him, English Corner not only teaches English language skills to participants. The program also serves as a space to build networks and share experiences among communities from various regions.

On the same occasion, the Special Staff of the Vice President for Education, Innovation, Research, and Downstreaming, Ahmad Aditya, welcomed the launch of the English Corner. According to him, collaboration among various parties is necessary for this English learning program to continue developing.

"We, from the vise president's office, are very pleased with this event. I want to introduce this event to more stakeholders in the private sector, from government stakeholders, so that we can develop this program, he said.

The English Corner program features various learning segments, ranging from Word of the Day, Conversation in Real Life, to Song of the Day. Thru these segments, listeners are invited to learn vocabulary, everyday conversations, and English thru games and popular songs.

This program will air weekly on Pro2 RRI across Indonesia with schedules adjusted for each region. In this inaugural edition, Pro2 RRI Jakarta will be the host, airing on Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM Indonesia Wetern Time.
