RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko agreed to strengthen the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Belarus by launching the Indonesia–Belarus Cooperation Strengthening Roadmap for 2026–2030.
The roadmap will serve as a foundation for developing bilateral relations in strategic sectors and will affirm both countries’ commitment to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.
“Amidst the evolving and uncertain global situation, Belarus is an important partner for Indonesia in the Eurasian region, and we appreciate the relationship that has continued to grow based on mutual respect and mutual benefit,” President Prabowo said in a joint statement at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, July 2, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
He added that Lukashenko’s state visit would further strengthen the partnership and produce concrete cooperation with direct benefits for the people. “I am confident this visit will further strengthen the Indonesia–Belarus partnership and deliver tangible benefits for the people of both countries,” President Prabowo said.
During the bilateral meeting, the two leaders discussed ways to deepen ties in several areas.
In politics, President Prabowo welcomed progress in relations since his meeting with Lukashenko in Minsk in 2025. As a follow-up, both countries introduced the 2026–2030 roadmap as a framework for developing cooperation across strategic sectors.
Lukashenko said his visit had been planned for about a year as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations. “Meetings with President Prabowo, ministers, delegates, and business representatives resulted in agreements ready for implementation. We in Belarus are very happy. What we have planned must now be realized,” he said.
He also reflected on Indonesia’s development since his first visit in 2013 and expressed optimism about the country’s economic prospects. “I remember my first visit in 2013, when I saw firsthand how rapidly this beautiful country was developing. I am confident its economy will continue to grow,” Lukashenko said.
His optimism aligns with data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), which recorded Indonesia’s economy growing 5.61 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, the fastest pace in more than three years.
Growth was supported by household consumption, increased government spending, investment, and strong performance in the accommodation and food and beverage sector.
In closing, President Prabowo said he would reciprocate the visit to Belarus to further strengthen communication and cooperation between the two heads of state. ***
