RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) along with the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) are strengthening their synergy in supporting the struggle of the Palestinian people. One of the concrete steps prepared is the organization of a joint conference in August 2026, coinciding with the commemoration of the founding day of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The Chairman of BKSAP DPR RI, Syahrul Aidi Maazat, said that the meeting with MUI and several Islamic organizations is a continuation of the cooperation that has been established during the previous BKSAP leadership period. According to him, the collaboration will continue to be strengthened to garner support for the struggle of the Palestinian people.

"This gathering continues the cooperation between MUI and BKSAP that has been established in the previous leadership. We are committed to continuing this synergy so that the struggle for the Palestinian people continues to be echoed and voiced," Syahrul stated in Jakarta, Tuesday, June 30, 2026, as quoted by dpr.go.id.

He also explained that the issue of Palestine was the main topic of discussion during the audience, which was also attended by the Chairman of the MUI Foreign Relations Division, Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim. As a follow-up, BKSAP, MUI, and various Islamic organizations plan to hold a joint conference to commemorate the founding day of the OIC.

"We anticipate that in August there will be joint activities to commemorate the birth of OIC. This is part of our synergy with MUI and Islamic organizations," he said.

He affirmed that the struggle to support Palestine's independence requires collaboration from various parties, including the government. Therefore, the synergy between parliament, the government, and elements of society is considered an important factor in strengthening Indonesia's diplomacy.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is certainly a strategic partner. The parliament has its role, the government also has its own capacities, so this synergy is very important," Syahrul said

At the international level, BKSAP will also utilize various inter-parliamentary cooperation forums to strengthen support for Palestine. Additionally, BKSAP will encourage collaboration with civil society organizations or non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in various countries to expand international support.
