RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has pledged to follow up on several proposals put forward by participants at the 2026 National Symposium of the Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI).
These include increasing doctoral scholarships for university faculty and strengthening research funding through State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs).
“I’ve heard many excellent and very reasonable proposals, and we will follow up on them immediately,” President Prabowo said during the closing ceremony of the 2026 KSTI National Forum at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) on Sunday, June 28, 2026.
One proposal that drew his attention was the increase in doctoral scholarship allocations for faculty members at both public and private universities. He also highlighted the suggestion that every SOE allocate a portion of its profits to support national research and innovation. “That’s a good suggestion,” he said.
The President also welcomed input on downstream processing strategies—from raw material processing to the production of final goods. He noted that the approach aligns with the direction of national industrial development, though it requires significant steps and effort.
President Prabowo further stated that the government would act on proposals to enhance cooperation with foreign institutions, including involving universities across various regions in implementing national strategic programs. “I think this is correct; we will proceed in that direction,” said President Prabowo.
