RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta — Indonesia's Ministry of Health has received and handed over a donation of medical equipment to support the recovery of healthcare services following hydrometeorological disasters across parts of Sumatra. The handover ceremony took place at the Ministry of Health headquarters in Jakarta on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

The donation was made possible through a collaboration between the Ministry of Health and a community initiative led by North Sumatran youth groups. The fundraising campaign was initiated by Pahala Nugraha Mansury, Bara Hasibuan, Veranita Yosephine Sinaga, and other volunteers through a community-based charity drive.

Indonesia's Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, expressed appreciation for the support provided by donors, emphasizing the importance of public-private collaboration in restoring essential healthcare services after disasters. He added that while the government has allocated funding to restore affected hospitals, additional support is still needed to strengthen community health centers, known locally as puskesmas, through collaborative initiatives and supplementary budget allocations.

"Partnerships between the government and the community are crucial in accelerating the recovery of post-disaster health services, particularly at community health centers, which serve as the frontline of Indonesia's primary healthcare system," Budi said, as quoted by the ministry’s press release.

The donated medical equipment includes 40 digital blood pressure monitors, 40 anthropometric measurement kits, 40 dry sterilizers, 40 three-crank hospital beds, 40 adult stethoscopes, six fogging machines for vector control, and eight dental units. The equipment will be distributed to community health centers in eight disaster-affected districts and municipalities: Aceh Tamiang, North Aceh, East Aceh, Central Aceh, Langkat, Central Tapanuli, South Tapanuli, and Agam.

Representing the donors, Bara Hasibuan said the donation was funded through a charity run held in early 2026, which attracted around 2,000 participants. Funds raised from the event were allocated to support recovery efforts in disaster-affected areas of Aceh and North Sumatra.

"We hope this contribution will help restore healthcare services in affected communities and reflect the spirit of mutual cooperation in supporting those in need," he said, as quoted from the ministry’s press release.

The Ministry of Health said it will continue to promote cross-sector collaboration involving communities and the private sector to enhance the resilience of Indonesia's national health system and improve healthcare services in regions affected by natural disasters.
