RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency and BINUS University strengthen their synergy in developing the national creative economy. The synergy is by signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the collaborative implementation of the Higher Education Catur Dharma (Four Pillars of Higher Education) and creative economy development.
This partnership represents a strategic step toward enhancing the national creative economy ecosystem by strengthening human resources, research, and innovation, as well as through collaborative programs that deliver tangible benefits to the community.
Secretary of the Ministry of Creative Economy/Principal Secretary of the Creative Economy Agency, Dessy Ruhati, stated that developing the creative economy requires cross-sector collaboration involving the government, academia, the business sector, communities, the media, and financial institutions.
"Through our collaboration with BINUS University, we hope to introduce various programs that strengthen the creative economy ecosystem and enhance the competitiveness of Indonesia's creative talent and industry players," Dessy said at BINUS University, Jakarta, on Thursday, June 25.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Dessy Ruhati and the Rector of BINUS University, Dr. Nelly, S.Kom. This agreement is expected to establish a stronger foundation for collaboration between academia and the government, aiming to cultivate creative talent capable of meeting industry demands while boosting the competitiveness of Indonesia's creative economy.
According to a release received by RRI Voice of Indonesia on Thursday, June 25, 2026, the scope of the partnership encompasses education, research, community service, technology transfer, and personal development initiatives aligned with the evolving needs of the creative industry.
BINUS University Rector, Dr. Nelly, stated that the creative economy is currently growing rapidly, driven by technological advancements and the increasingly significant role of young talent. "This momentum underscores the importance of synergy between the education sector and the government. Through the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding, we hope to open up broader collaboration opportunities—ranging from student programs and creative economy-based startup development to the organization of academic activities and workshops relevant to the current needs of the creative industry," Nelly said.
In addition to the MoU signing, the event—held at the BINUS University Auditorium—served as a discussion forum for the Ministry of Creative Economy and BINUS University to identify various collaborative opportunities for future action.
"Great works are born from collaboration. The government cannot operate in isolation, nor can higher education institutions. BINUS has produced a wealth of talent, innovations, and startups that contribute to the creative economy industry. Through this collaboration, the Ministry of Creative Economy is committed to building an ecosystem that transforms creativity into economic value, creates jobs, strengthens intellectual property, and brings the nation's creative works to the global market," she said.
