RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Online ride‑hailing platforms Gojek and Grab will begin implementing an 8 percent commission rate for motorcycle passenger services starting July 1, 2026. The policy, announced by both companies, applies to their two‑wheeled ride‑hailing services.

GoTo’s On‑Demand Services Business Unit President Catherine Hindra Sutjahyo said the measure aims to improve the welfare of motorcycle taxi driver partners. She noted that the step aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s remarks on drivers during the May Day commemoration.

Catherine confirmed that Gojek will apply the 8 percent commission to its GoRide service.

“We support this initiative to improve the welfare of our motorcycle taxi driver partners. Effective July 1, 2026, Gojek Indonesia will implement an 8 percent commission for its online motorcycle taxi passenger services,” she said at a press conference held by the House of Representatives on online transportation at Nusantara III, Parliament Complex, on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

Grab Indonesia CEO Neneng Goenadi also announced that Grab will implement the same commission rate for its GrabBike service. “Grab Indonesia will begin implementing an 8 percent commission for its motorcycle taxi passenger service, GrabBike, effective July 1, 2026,” Neneng said.

The policy follows Presidential Regulation No. 27/2026 on the Protection of Online Transportation Workers, signed by President Prabowo Subianto. The regulation provides safeguards for drivers and ensures a fairer distribution of income.

The President announced the regulation during International Workers’ Day at the National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta on May 1, 2026. “Colleagues, we have made arrangements. I have signed Presidential Regulation No. 27/2026 concerning the Protection of Online Transportation Workers,” he said in his speech.

President Prabowo emphasized revenue sharing between app providers and drivers. Under the regulation, drivers will receive a minimum of 92 percent of revenue, compared with 80 percent previously. “I disagree with 10 percent. It should be less. Drivers will now receive at least 92 percent,” he said.

This caps the commission for app providers at a maximum of 8 percent. According to the President, the previous scheme was not entirely fair to drivers who work on the roads daily. (Misni Parjiati)
