RRI.CO.ID, Bogor - Indonesia’s Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu’ti, has encouraged young Indonesians to dream big and pursue their ambitions regardless of their background. He emphasized that every child has the potential to succeed through dedication, confidence, and a strong commitment to learning.
The message was delivered during a dialogue session with students following the “Pagi Ceria” (Cheerful Morning) program at SDN Cimahpar 5 Elementary School in Bogor, West Java, on June 10. The discussion covered a wide range of topics, from football to future career aspirations, reflecting the hopes and ambitions of Indonesia’s younger generation.
During one conversation, Abdul Mu’ti asked a student about his favorite football player. The student named Indonesian footballer Beckham Putra and said he hoped to become a professional football player in the future.
“Because I want to play for Persib Bandung,” the student replied, drawing applause and smiles from teachers and fellow students attending the event.
According to the minister, the response demonstrated that every child deserves the opportunity to nurture and pursue their dreams. He stressed that one of education’s most important roles is to ensure those aspirations continue to grow.
The discussion later turned to Destian, a student originally from Wonogiri, Central Java, who confidently shared his ambition of studying abroad and one day working in the United States as an astronaut.
“Because I want to learn something new. And I want to work in America because I want to become an astronaut,” Destian said when explaining his future goals.
Responding to the student’s aspirations, Abdul Mu’ti highlighted the importance of perseverance, continuous learning, and skill development in achieving success. He also praised Destian’s English-language ability, which the student developed independently through social media platforms and YouTube. According to the minister, foreign language proficiency is an increasingly important skill that can help young Indonesians access global educational opportunities, broaden their horizons, and compete in an interconnected world.
