RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that downstream processing and industrialization will be key to strengthening Indonesia’s national economy. He made the remarks during the opening of the 18th National Congress (Munas) of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) in Lampung on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

The President urged young entrepreneurs to play a major role in the ongoing economic transformation. He expressed optimism that Indonesia can achieve energy self‑sufficiency through cooperation in downstreaming and industrialization.

President Prabowo noted that after strengthening the energy sector, the government’s next step will be to accelerate national industrialization. The policy aims to increase value added, create jobs, and boost industrial competitiveness.

“In our projections, in three years, we will become formidable in the energy sector. We are heading toward energy self‑sufficiency,” President Prabowo said in his speech.

He stressed that Indonesia must no longer serve merely as a supplier of raw materials. All natural resources, he said, must be processed domestically to yield optimal economic benefits.

According to President Prabowo, industrialization through downstream processing will create significant opportunities for young entrepreneurs to thrive across various sectors. The initiative also ensures that young Indonesians fully benefit from national production.

“Most importantly, we will pursue industrialization through downstream processing. All our commodities will be processed and transformed into industries within Indonesia,” he said.

On that occasion, President Prabowo also highlighted the importance of fostering pride in national products to enable the country to produce its own strategic industrial goods.

He added that the first signs of industrial self‑reliance are evident in the development of locally produced vehicles, including those used by government institutions. “Our National Military (TNI) is already using jeeps made by Indonesians, and even the President’s vehicle is made by Indonesians themselves,” he said.
