RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Uruguay is showcasing its cultural heritage to Indonesian audiences through the Panorámica art exhibition at the National Gallery of Indonesia in Jakarta, Thursday, 5 June 2026. The exhibition presents a collection of works that offer insights into Uruguay’s landscapes, traditions, and identity through visual art.

Organized through a collaboration between the Embassy of Uruguay in Jakarta and the National Gallery of Indonesia, the exhibition forms part of the commemoration of 60 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Uruguay. The initiative highlights the role of culture as a bridge between nations and communities.

The exhibition features the Gauchos photography series by Uruguayan artist Luis Fabini and the Infinite Dawn watercolor collection by Manuel Rodríguez. Together, the works provide visitors with a deeper understanding of Uruguay’s natural environment and cultural values.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Indonesia’s Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, emphasized the importance of cultural exchange in strengthening international relations. He said art has the power to connect people across borders while encouraging dialogue and collaboration.

“May it inspire new collaborations among artists, cultural institutions, scholars and future generations in both countries. Let us continue to strengthen the bridge of culture that connects Indonesia and Uruguay, enriching our societies and contributing to greater international understanding,” Fadli Zon said.

Uruguay’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Cristina González, noted that bilateral relations between the two countries have continued to grow over the past six decades. According to her, cultural initiatives such as Panorámica help create lasting connections between people beyond formal diplomacy.

“As the relationship evolves, we continue cooperating towards building a strategic partnership based on mutual benefit. Today, through art and culture, we celebrate not only this important milestone between our two nations, but also enable enduring exchanges between our peoples,” González said.

Beyond displaying artworks, Panorámica serves as a platform for cultural dialogue and mutual learning between Indonesia and Uruguay. Organizers hope the exhibition will encourage new collaborations and deepen appreciation for cultural diversity among audiences in both countries.
