Govt Accelerates Priority Programs, Irrigation Progress Hits 82.73 Percent

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Ministry of Public Works reported that the physical progress of the regional irrigation management project had reached 82.73 percent by the end of May 2026, one of the highest achievements among the President’s priority programs this year.

Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo said accelerating these programs remains the ministry’s primary focus. He emphasized that all projects are being closely monitored to ensure quality, timeliness, and accuracy.

“We are monitoring implementation readiness, field obstacles, and schedule accuracy more closely, especially for road access, flood control, schools, and irrigation networks,” Dody said in Jakarta on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

The irrigation program is expected to improve services across 19,760 hectares of networks, strengthening national food security.

The ministry has also made progress in other priority programs. The regional road improvement program has achieved 75.10 percent of its target to construct and upgrade 408.57 kilometers of roads.

Construction of 93 public schools has reached 67.50 percent physical progress, while the revitalization of 856 Islamic schools stood at 41.88 percent by the end of May 2026.

In South Papua, the ministry continues to develop the Wanam National Food, Energy, and Water Self-Sufficiency Area (KSPEAN), which had reached 12.67 percent physical progress by the end of May.

As of May 31, 2026, the Ministry of Public Works had spent IDR 33.49 trillion on these projects, equivalent to 31.39 percent of the total budget ceiling of IDR 106.71 trillion.

House of Representatives Commission V Speaker Lasarus praised the ministry’s development programs and urged faster action on strategic initiatives to meet national targets.

“Commission V of the DPR RI agreed with the Ministry of Public Works to accelerate the implementation of strategic development programs, increase the effectiveness of the President’s priority programs, and enhance synergy and coordination in implementing the 2026 State Budget,” Lasarus said.
