RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono emphasized the importance of preparing excellent, adaptive, and high-integrity human resources to face increasingly complex global dynamics. He delivered the message while speaking at a National Seminar themed “Young Leadership for Sustainable Future” at Universitas Pamulang, in South Tangerang, Banten, on Monday, May 25, 2026, attended by more than 4,000 students.
Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, said he felt optimistic after witnessing the enthusiasm and energy of the younger generation filling the Darsono Auditorium at UNPAM. According to him, students’ spirit is an important asset for Indonesia in facing future global challenges.
“I’m very happy to be here today and directly greet more than 4,000 students of Universitas Pamulang. The extraordinary energy and enthusiasm of today’s young generation truly provide new optimism for the nation’s future,” he said.
During the occasion, Agus also expressed appreciation to Universitas Pamulang, the Yayasan Sasmita Jaya, and the university leadership for consistently expanding access to higher education for all levels of society, including students from low-income families, marginalized groups, and people with disabilities.
According to him, such efforts represent a concrete contribution to reducing poverty and social inequality through inclusive and quality education. He also paid tribute to the vision of UNPAM founder Darsono, whose legacy continues through the university’s academic community.
“UNPAM has become a real example of a campus that opens the doors of higher education as widely as possible for all Indonesians. This noble effort is invaluable in alleviating poverty and social inequality,” Agus stated.
Before thousands of students, AHY delivered a keynote on “Climate Crisis, Infrastructure, and Sustainable Development: Preparing Indonesia’s Young Generation for Today’s and Future Global Challenges.” He highlighted a range of global challenges that must be anticipated early, from geopolitical dynamics affecting energy, food, and international trade sectors to climate change threats and increasing natural disasters.
According to AHY, Indonesia should not merely become a nation capable of surviving challenges, but must also emerge as a globally competitive and leading country.
“We must not only survive; we must become a superior nation, a winning nation. High economic growth must go hand in hand with sustainable development that protects the environment,” he stressed.
He also underscored the importance of strategic measures to accelerate decarbonization across sectors, including industry, transportation, and energy. According to him, transport electrification and the development of renewable energy are crucial in reducing dependence on fossil fuels while safeguarding environmental sustainability.
“We must consistently push decarbonization across sectors, including through transportation electrification and the transition to renewable energy. Development must not sacrifice the future of our children and grandchildren,” Agus continued.
