RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Nine Indonesian citizens participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 mission arrived back in Indonesia on Sunday, May 24, 2026. The group landed at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, at approximately 4:25 p.m. Jakarta time, where they were personally received by Foreign Minister Affairs Sugiono.
"With deep gratitude to the God Almighty, we welcome back our brothers who were part of the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0," said Minister Sugiono.
He noted that the government had maintained continuous coordination and negotiations since the activists were intercepted on May 18, 2026, ultimately securing their safe return to Indonesia.
The Foreign Minister also expressed his gratitude to the various parties involved in the repatriation process. "In particular, we thank the Government of Türkiye, which assisted in escorting our citizens from Ashdod," he added.
Prior to their homecoming, all GSF volunteers, including the nine Indonesians, had been released on Thursday, May 21, 2026, local time. They initially flew to Türkiye on a flight chartered by local authorities.
Several of the Indonesian citizens detained by Israel reported experiencing inhumane treatment, with some noting instances of physical assault.
