RRI.CO.ID, Bandung – Indonesian Air Force Chief of Staff , Air Marshal Tonny Harjono, underscored that the readiness of defense and security equipment has become the main focus in fostering the Indonesian Air Force Material Maintenance Command to support the operational readiness of national air defense. In his remarks, the Air Force Chief of Staff conveyed that developments in the strategic environment require air power to always be ready for deployment, both in military war operations and military operations other than war.

“These demands can only be met if the defense equipment we possess remains airworthy, reliable, and ready to support every operational requirement,” Tonny said while officiating the handover ceremony of the Commander position to First Marshal Rudolf P. Buulolo in Bandung on Wednesday, May 14, 2026.

He stressed that air power readiness is determined not only by operational capability, but also by a maintenance system capable of keeping defense equipment in optimal condition and ready for deployment at any time.

According to him, the success of the Indonesian Air Force’s duties is also strongly influenced by the quality of maintenance that ensures the sustainability of air power consistently.

Therefore, the Air Force Chief of Staff encouraged the Material Maintenance Command to reinforce maintenance governance and data-based spare parts management, improve personnel competence, and build a culture of safety and quality assurance in every work process.

In addition, Tonny expressed optimism that Rudolf P. Buulolo would be able to lead Indonesian Air Force Materiel Maintenance Command to become a more adaptive, professional unit capable of responding to operational demands amid rapid technological developments and increasingly dynamic operational readiness needs.

He conveyed that strengthening the maintenance system is an important part of ensuring the operational readiness of the Indonesian Air Force while reinforcing the implementation of national defense duties through reliable and sustainable defense equipment support.
