Vice Defense Minister Establishes South Sulawesi Reserve Force

RRI.CO.ID, Makassar – Indonesia's Vice Minister of Defense, Donny Ermawan, led the establishment ceremony of the Ground Reserve Component (Komcad) for 500 hundreds Civil Servants (ASN) of the South Sulawesi Provincial Government in Makassar on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. The Vice Minister stated that the formation of the Reserve Component is an implementation of Law Number 23 of 2019 on the Management of National Resources for State Defense.

“This program aims to expand the main component of national defense through the integration of military and non-military forces, while also developing human resources that are disciplined, resilient, possess integrity, and are prepared to face the nation’s various strategic challenges,” Donny said.

He further stated that,"The involvement of regional civil servants in the Reserve Component is part of expanding the universal national defense system through national preparedness."

The Vice Minister expressed appreciation to the South Sulawesi Provincial Government for its support and synergy in the establishment of the Reserve Component. According to him, the support serves as an example of collaboration between the central and regional governments in strengthening the foundation of national defense from the regional level.

To the civil servants appointed as members of the Reserve Component, Donny conveyed a message to always uphold loyalty to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), reinforce discipline, maintain readiness, and become role models in promoting the spirit of national defense in workplaces and communities.

Following the establishment ceremony, the event continued with an award presentation by South Sulawesi Governor, Andi Sudirman Sulaiman to the best students of the 2026 South Sulawesi Provincial Government ASN Reserve Component program. The awards were given in recognition of the participants’ dedication and achievements during the training and development process.

The series of events also featured demonstrations by the Reserve Component participants, showcasing the results of their training and their readiness to support the national defense system, before concluding with honors and a troop parade.
