RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade, through the Indonesia Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Milan, partnered with the Italian Chamber of Commerce for South East Asia to hold a post-event networking session in Milan, Italy, on April 29. The program followed Indonesia’s participation in Salone del Mobile 2026 and Salone Satellite 2026, which took place from April 21 to 26.
The event was designed to maintain business momentum after the international design exhibitions. It also aimed to turn buyer interest during the fairs into long-term export transactions. Trade Ministry Director General for National Export Development, Fajarini Puntodewi, said from Jakarta, Tuesday, May 12, 2026 that the post-event is an important gateway for Indonesian furniture expansion into Europe.
She added that Indonesian design is gaining stronger recognition on the global stage. “We want to ensure that buyer interest during the exhibitions can immediately continue into sustainable export deals,” Fajarini said.
Head of ITPC Milan, Seno Pratomo, said the event reintroduced curated Indonesian furniture products that attracted attention during Salone del Mobile 2026. He noted that Indonesian products are competitive not only in aesthetics but also in innovation and sustainability.
Featured brands included Vivere, Bika Living x DuAnyam, and Box Living. Innovative works from Mergrath Design, Zulyo Kumara Studio, and Studio Banda also highlighted the use of rattan and coffee-waste biomaterials.
A discussion session titled “Beyond Making” brought together designers and industry representatives to explain the creative philosophy behind Indonesian furniture. Speakers also demonstrated the readiness of Indonesia’s furniture ecosystem to meet international production and design standards before 35 creative industry participants.
Indonesia also introduced its culture through Wonogiri coffee and traditional snacks such as klepon, wingko, and sosis solo. Organizers used the occasion to promote the 41st Trade Expo Indonesia and invite Italian buyers and distributors to explore partnerships in Indonesia.
