RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Financial Services Authority of Indonesia or (OJK) said Indonesia’s capital market continues to show resilience amid global pressure throughout 2026. The condition is reflected in the steady rise of domestic investors, which has now reached 26.8 million Single Investor Identification (SID) accounts.

Chairperson of OJK’s Board of Commissioners, Friderica Widyasari Dewi, said the growth of domestic investors is a positive signal for the strengthening of Indonesia’s financial market. According to her, a larger local investor base can help maintain stability amid global geopolitical and geoeconomic uncertainty.

Speaking at the Investor Relations Forum 2026 held at the main hall of Indonesia Stock Exchange in Jakarta on Monday, May 11, 2026, Friderica said the number of investors has increased significantly since the end of last year. She noted that the market gained around 6.4 million new investor accounts in that period.

“I just received the latest update showing that Indonesia’s investor count has reached 26.8 million SID. Since the end of last year, it has increased by 6.4 million, which is extraordinary,” Friderica said. Her remarks highlighted strong public interest in investing through the capital market.

For international readers, the rise in domestic participation signals a deeper and more mature retail investor base in Southeast Asia’s largest economy. It also suggests Indonesia is becoming less dependent on volatile foreign capital flows.

She explained that the achievement was supported by investment education and outreach programs conducted across many regions of Indonesia. Those efforts have encouraged more citizens to participate in formal financial markets.

She added that confidence in Indonesia’s economic fundamentals remains a key factor in preserving market resilience. As long as that confidence is maintained, the country’s capital market is expected to remain attractive despite global uncertainty.

“As long as we believe our fundamentals are strong, we must stay confident in Indonesia’s capital market,” she said. OJK hopes the market will continue to serve as a safe and appealing investment home for future generations.
