Ministry of Manpower Pledges Continued Support for Workers with Disabilities

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta -The Indonesian Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) has reaffirmed its commitment to overseeing the fulfillment of labor rights for persons with disabilities, emphasizing the creation of truly inclusive industrial environments.

Secretary General of Kemnaker, Cris Kuntadi, highlighted that the ministry's support extends far beyond the recruitment phase. He noted that the government is actively assisting companies in providing reasonable accommodation, which includes adjusting work environments and providing specialized assistive devices tailored to various types of disabilities.

During a recent inspection of companies in Malang and Blitar, Kuntadi praised several firms for exceeding the legal requirement set by Law No. 8/2016, which mandates a 1 percent employment quota for persons with disabilities in the private sector.

“What these companies are doing proves that inclusivity is not just an administrative obligation, but a tangible manifestation of siding with humanity,” Kuntadi said on Sunday, May 10, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

A significant focus of the ministry’s current mission is encouraging the employment of individuals with mental and intellectual disabilities, groups that often face the harshest social stigmas. Kuntadi emphasized that with proper management and support systems, these individuals are more than capable of contributing to a company's growth and productivity.
