RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Ministry of Creative Economy emphasized that IP Expo 2026 will connect Indonesian creative works with global markets. The event is designed to expand distribution and strengthen international marketing in a sustainable way.
“We want superior creative works to be implemented and widely visible to the public, not just stop at competitions. That is the main goal of IP Expo 2026,” Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, said during a discussion in Jakarta on Thursday, May 7, 2026.
She stressed that IP Expo 2026 is a vital momentum to drive Indonesia’s creative economy as a new source of growth. According to her, Indonesia has the potential to lead Southeast Asia in intellectual property implementation across creative sectors.
“We’re focusing on two things: distribution and marketing, not just locally but globally. Indonesia’s creative economy champions are highly creative but often lack sales skills, so government representatives act as salespeople,” she said.
Irene urged local IP creators to strengthen visibility through strategic collaborations. She reminded industry players not to set licensing prices too high at the initial stage, especially when the goal is to build market awareness and expand brand reach.
“Local IP creators must strengthen visibility through strategic collaborations so that economic benefits can grow together. In the early stages, licensing prices shouldn’t be too high to increase market recognition and broaden brand reach,” she said.
She expressed optimism that IP Expo 2026 will become a meeting point for local creators and brands to open wider collaborations, reinforcing the national IP ecosystem for sustainable economic growth.
The ministry showcased several leading local IPs at the event, held at the Grand Ballroom of Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta. Featured works included A Space for the Unbound, Coffee Talk, DreadOut, and other local games. (Misni Parjiati/Lasti Martina)
