RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Ministry of Culture has launched a Creative Video Content Competition themed Me & My Culture during a media briefing held at the ministry’s Building E Lobby in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday May 4, 2026. The program aims to expand national cultural promotion through public participation in digital spaces.

Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, said Indonesia possesses immense cultural wealth and diversity that should continue to be introduced to younger generations and global audiences. “Indonesia is a country of cultural mega diversity, a nation that is extraordinarily rich and diverse in culture,” he said.

According to him, the competition is expected to increase public appreciation for cultural sites, museums, and heritage landmarks located across the country. He noted that digital platforms can serve as a strategic medium to bring cultural heritage closer to society in a more engaging way.

Through the contest, participants are invited to create videos featuring museums, historical sites, and cultural destinations in their respective regions. “We invite young people not only to become consumers of culture, but also creators, actors, and cultural ambassadors in the digital space,” Fadli stated.

He explained that Indonesia is home to many prominent cultural destinations, including Borobudur Temple, Prambanan Temple, Gunung Padang, the National Museum, and the National Gallery. In addition, hundreds of nationally recognized heritage sites are spread from Aceh to Papua.

The competition is open on three social media platforms Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok with two participant categories: students/university students and the general public. Entries will be judged based on creativity, originality of perspective, and the ability to present cultural values in an appealing format.

The government has prepared a total prize pool of Rp600 million for winners across all categories. “We want to encourage our digital spaces to be filled with cultural content and unique creative works from Indonesia,” he said.

Registration and submissions are open from May 4 to July 15, 2026, with participants allowed to use smartphones or other recording equipment. The government hopes the competition will strengthen cultural literacy while increasing public interest in visiting museums and national heritage destinations.
