RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism is rolling out the 2026 Tourism Safety Program across Indonesia, aiming to fortify security standards and risk mitigation at national destinations.

Deputy for Resources and Institutions at the Ministry of Tourism, Martini Mohamad Paham, emphasized that global travel trends are shifting. Modern travelers now prioritize safety and quality alongside aesthetic appeal. "Safety issues have now become an important factor in tourism competitiveness," she said on Saturday, May 2, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The program focuses on upgrading the skills of tourism workers through a "co-administration" scheme, centering on several key objectives.

First, it prioritizes risk mitigation by teaching personnel how to effectively identify and prevent potential hazards at various tourist sites. Second, the initiative aims to enhance emergency response by improving the ability of field staff to react quickly and efficiently during crises.

Finally, the program emphasizes standardization to ensure that uniform safety procedures are implemented across the archipelago, ultimately boosting Indonesia's standing in the global tourism market.

Martini highlighted that the success of this initiative relies on synergy between the central government and provincial Tourism Agency. She called on regional leaders to act as initiators within their respective territories, noting that safety is a shared responsibility.

The training program also incorporates principles of occupational health, safety, and environmental sustainability. By fostering a professional workforce dedicated to these values, the Ministry aims to strengthen Indonesia’s image as a high-quality, secure destination.

Ika Kusuma Permana Sari, Assistant Deputy for Community Capacity Building, added that regional readiness is the linchpin of the program. "We want to ensure every region is ready to run this program optimally so it has a direct impact on increasing the quality and security of tourism destinations," she explained.

Through this collaborative effort, the Ministry of Tourism is confident that the 2026 program will serve as a vital foundation for a competitive and sustainable tourism industry that provides peace of mind to every visitor. ***
