RRI.CO.ID, Tanggerang – The Directorate General of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transportation held the first National Aviation Security Committee (KNKP) Meeting of 2026 as an effort to strengthen national aviation security standards, particularly in aircraft security aspects.

Director of Aviation Security, Sigit Hani Hadiyanto, representing the Director General of Civil Aviation, said the forum serves as an important momentum to enhance collaboration among stakeholders to ensure the implementation of aviation security in accordance with national and international standards.

“This meeting is an important momentum to strengthen collaboration and ensure that aircraft security implementation runs in accordance with both national and international standards,” Sigit said in Tangerang on Thursday, 30 April 2026.

He explained that the hybrid meeting was attended by representatives from Airport Authority Offices Region I–V, PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, domestic and foreign airlines, and ground handling companies, while other participants joined online.

Sigit noted that the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has proposed Amendment 19 to Annex 17, which includes several updates such as the definition of transit passengers and baggage, strengthening human factors, and standards for aircraft security checks and searches.

Indonesia has approved the changes and is currently discussing revisions to Minister of Transportation Decree KM 39 of 2024 concerning the National Aviation Security Program. The meeting also included the awarding of aviation security compliance certificates to foreign air carriers and regulated agents as recognition for meeting aviation security standards.

The KNKP agenda also discussed strengthening aircraft security measures both on the ground and during flights, involving regulators and industry players such as Garuda Indonesia and Cathay Pacific Indonesia, as well as ground handling companies PT Jasa Angkasa Semesta and PT Gapura Angkasa. In addition, Sigit highlighted aviation security readiness in supporting the 1447 H/2026 Hajj pilgrimage.

Since April 22, 2026, security monitoring has been carried out at several Hajj embarkation points, including passenger and baggage screening, access control, and boarding processes for pilgrims. He added that the supervision also involves various agencies such as Health Quarantine, Immigration, Customs, and the Ministry of Religious Affairs to ensure the smooth travel of Hajj pilgrims.

“Synergy and commitment from all stakeholders are key to maintaining national aviation safety and security,” Sigit said.
