RRI.CO.ID, Labuan Bajo - Indonesia’s Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, Maman Abdurrahman, conducted a field visit to review an ultra-micro empowerment program in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, Wednesday, 29 April 2026. The visit focused on beneficiaries of the PNM Mekaar program in Pasir Panjang Village, Rinca Island, to ensure effective and well-targeted implementation.
During the visit, the minister met directly with local entrepreneurs, most of whom are women. The engagement aimed to assess the program’s impact while strengthening support for grassroots businesses.
“We are here to meet directly with MSME entrepreneurs in Pasir Panjang Village, the majority of whom are women, and to ensure this program runs effectively,” Maman said. He emphasized the importance of direct interaction to better understand the needs of local communities.
Maman highlighted that strengthening people-centered economic programs through state-backed financing institutions is key to reducing extreme poverty. He noted that the initiative aligns with directives from President Prabowo Subianto.
“PNM is at the forefront of efforts to address and eradicate extreme poverty, particularly targeting the lowest-income groups,” he said. He added that interventions are focused on the most vulnerable segments of society.
The minister explained that PT Permodalan Nasional Madani plays a strategic role by providing accessible financing alongside continuous business mentoring. This approach helps reduce reliance on harmful informal lending practices and supports sustainable economic growth.
“We continue to strengthen collaboration to expand access to financing and empowerment, especially for those in the lowest income groups,” he said. He reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive economic development through partnerships.
Meanwhile, PNM Corporate Secretary, Dodot Patria Ary, stressed that financing must be accompanied by capacity-building programs. “We believe every loan should come with training, as grassroots communities especially women are key drivers of the local economy,” he said, highlighting ongoing support efforts in Rinca Island communities.
