Hajj Day Eight: 40,796 Indonesian Pilgrims Depart, Health Services Strengthened

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia reported the latest progress of the 1447H/2026 Hajj operations on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. The update was delivered at Asrama Haji Pondok Gede, Jakarta, marking the eighth day of the operational period.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Indonesia stated that pilgrim departures continue to run smoothly across embarkation points. A total of 40,796 pilgrims have departed in 104 flight groups to Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, 36,483 pilgrims have arrived safely in Madinah across 93 flight groups. The arrival process has proceeded in an orderly manner with assistance from Hajj officers from the airport to hotels.

In terms of health services in Madinah, 1,373 pilgrims are receiving outpatient care. In addition, 30 pilgrims were referred to the Indonesian Hajj Health Clinic, while 54 were referred to Saudi hospitals.

The Indonesian government also confirmed one pilgrim passed away on April 27, 2026. The total number of deaths during the Hajj season has reached two pilgrims so far.

Spokesperson of Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Maria Assegaff, said the government continues to prioritize pilgrim health throughout the pilgrimage process. She emphasized that services are provided in layers from Indonesia to Saudi Arabia.

“The government ensures that pilgrim health is a top priority. Health services are provided in layers, from departure in Indonesia to services in the Holy Land,” she said.

She added that special attention is given to elderly pilgrims and those with health risks. The government aims to ensure continuous assistance throughout the entire pilgrimage process.

“We want to ensure every pilgrim, especially the elderly and those with health risks, receives optimal assistance from departure until the completion of worship,” she added.

Maria also urged pilgrims to maintain their health during their stay in Saudi Arabia. She emphasized the importance of rest, proper nutrition, and reporting health issues to officers.
