RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - National Nutrition Agency (BGN) received Vise President's directives regarding the strengthening of food security aspects in the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG). Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) for Public Communication and Investigation, Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, delivered the statement at the meeting in Jakarta, Monday, April 27, 2026.

"I was just called by the Vise President to discuss food security," Nanik conveyed. "Mr. Gibran warned that leftover food should not enter the kitchen, because this leftover food has the potential to become one of the sources of disease," she said.

As a precautionary measure, Nanik continued, the Vise President suggested that the process of cleaning food scraps be done outside the kitchen to prevent cross-contamination. "He suggested that food scraps be cleaned outside the kitchen," Nanik said.

The directive will be part of efforts to strengthen food safety standards, particularly in the implementation of nutrition fulfillment programs to ensure that the quality of food served to the public remains maintained and safe for consumption. He also revealed that the Vise President's background as a former entrepreneur in the catering field made him understand the kitchen's standard operating procedures (SOP) in detail.

Vise President, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, affirmed the importance of maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the MBG kitchen or Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), especially in handling food waste. He specifically reminded that leftover food should not be brought back into the kitchen as it has the potential to become a source of disease.

"As a former entrepreneur in the catering field, the Vise President truly understands the SOPs of kitchen workflows and critical matters regarding food safety," she conveyed.

In addition to security aspects, the Vise President also asked BGN to expedite the equitable implementation of the MBG Program, especially in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions (3T).
