RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government has expressed its deepest condolences following the death of Private Rico Pramudia, an Indonesian peacekeeper serving with UNIFIL, who succumbed to severe injuries sustained in an artillery blast near Adchit Al Qusayr on March 29, 2026.

Since the incident, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has coordinated closely with UNIFIL, the Lebanese government, and medical teams in Beirut to ensure prompt and optimal treatment.

“Despite the best medical efforts, his life could not be saved due to the severity of his injuries,” the ministry said in a written statement on Friday, April 24, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The government also pledged to ensure that Private Rico’s body would be repatriated promptly and with full respect.

His death marks the fourth loss of Indonesian military personnel serving with UNIFIL in southern Lebanon in the past month. Private Farizal Rhomadhon was killed in the same artillery attack on March 29, while Captain Inf Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ikhwan died the following day when their convoy came under attack.

A series of assaults between March 29 and April 3 also left seven Indonesian soldiers injured, including Private Rico, who later died after nearly a month of treatment.

The government underscored that the safety of peacekeeping personnel is non-negotiable and must remain a priority.

“Attacks on peacekeepers are serious violations of international law and may constitute war crimes,” the ministry said, urging the UN to conduct a thorough, transparent, and fair investigation.

“The safety and security of UN peacekeepers is non-negotiable. We are coordinating with the UN and troop-contributing countries to strengthen protection for personnel in the field. This includes a comprehensive evaluation of safety and security measures and risk mitigation in UNIFIL’s area of operations,” the Foreign Ministry added, ***
