RRI.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Indonesia's Ministry of Defense will fully manage the Kalibata Heroes' Cemetery (TMP) in South Jakarta. Previously, the area was managed by the Ministry of Social Affairs.
The Director General of Defense Potential (Pothan) at the Ministry of Defense, Rear Admiral Sri Yanto, madd a statement to the media at the Ministry of Defense office in Central Jakarta on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
In addition, he explained that the full transfer of management of the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery is still in the process of amending the law in the House of Representatives (DPR).
"Currently, there is still a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the transition of joint management between the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of Defense. The full transfer has not yet been made," Sri Yanto conveyed.
He further conveyed that the transfer was made to facilitate the full management of the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery. He said that the Ministry of Social Affairs has been actively managing the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery administratively.
"To be more integrated into one package, we've mentioned, simplifying it so that management can be more integrated and hopefully, better in the future," Sri Yanto noted.
The goal is to preserve heroic values that can then be transferred through national defense activities. We want the management to be more integrated, in one package, so that simplification occurs," he said.
The Ministry of Defense is also preparing a revitalization program for the Heroes' Cemetery (TMP) so that it becomes not only a burial place for heroes, but also a space for historical education and national values. Several educational points or areas will be established within the TMP area.
According to him, this policy is expected to increase public pride in the services of these heroes, which will ultimately strengthen their love for their country.
"If people are proud of their heroes, they will be proud of their nation and their country," he said.
