Minister of Hajj Receives Governance Transformation Award from PWI

RRI.CO.ID, Surabaya - Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Moch. Irfan Yusuf received a governance transformation award. The award was presented during National Press Day and Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) anniversary in Surabaya, Thursday, April 16, 2026.

The recognition was presented by the Indonesian Journalists Association of East Java. It recognized efforts to strengthen transparent, accountable, and service-oriented Hajj governance for Indonesian pilgrims.

The award also reflects broader reforms by the Indonesian government in improving Hajj services. These efforts aim to ensure better quality services and meaningful experiences for pilgrims.

In his statement, the minister said the recognition would motivate continuous improvements. He affirmed that achievements stem from collective work across all levels within the ministry.

He then highlighted that the award represents shared dedication within the institution. The following statement reflects the ministry’s commitment to ongoing governance reform.

“This award is not solely for me, but for all staff of Ministry of Hajj and Umrah staff working hard to transform Hajj services. This strengthens our commitment to deliver more transparent, accountable, and service-oriented governance,” he said.

He further explained that governance reform is part of broader national efforts by the Indonesian government. The focus is improving services from preparation in Indonesia to implementation in Saudi Arabia.

He then delivered another statement emphasizing service impact on pilgrims’ experience. The following remarks underline the importance of governance for worship quality.

“Our main focus is ensuring pilgrims receive the best services, from preparation in Indonesia to the pilgrimage in the Holy Land. Good governance must directly impact pilgrims’ comfort and solemnity,” he said.

The minister also appreciated the press's oversight of Hajj operations. He added that constructive reporting helps improve services and strengthens collaboration over time.
