RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Chairman of Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Marwan Dasopang, led a Working Meeting of Commission VIII of the House with the Minister of Hajj and Umrah of the Republic of Indonesia and a Hearing Meeting with the Head of the Hajj Financial Management Agency Executive Agency at Nusantara II, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

In the meeting, Member of Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Marwan stated that it could accept the government's explanation regarding the adjustment of the Hajj Implementation Fee (BPIH) for 2026, which is influenced by the increase in jet fuel prices and exchange rate fluctuations. However, Commission VIII emphasized that the additional costs should not be passed on to the pilgrims.

"We can understand the adjustment of costs due to external factors such as the price of avtur and exchange rates." However, Commission VIII emphasized that the additional costs should not be borne by the pilgrims, but rather should be the responsibility of the state," Marwan stated.

Commission VIII affirmed that the cost difference must be borne by the state finances. Therefore, the Minister of hajj is requested to coordinate across ministries and agencies in accordance with legal provisions to ensure the use of state budgets is accountable.

"The government needs to coordinate across ministries and agencies so that this financing scheme can be implemented in an accountable manner and in accordance with regulations," he conveyed.

In addition to the financing aspect, Commission VIII also highlighted the importance of support from local governments. Commission VIII requested coordination between the central government and provincial as well as regency/municipal governments to ensure the smooth process of sending pilgrims to embarkation.

"We request a strong synergy between the central and regional governments, so that the process of sending pilgrims from the regions to the embarkation point can run smoothly without any obstacles," he said.

Regarding technical readiness, Commission VIII appreciates the government's presentation on the readiness of services for pilgrims, both domestically and internationally. However, Commission VIII still requests the expedited completion of several important needs, such as the procurement of suitcases, uniforms, and other equipment.

"Technical preparations must be ensured to be completed on time, including the procurement of pilgrimage supplies such as suitcases and uniforms, so as not to disrupt the departure stages," Marwan stated.

Thru these various notes, Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage is conducted better, safely, and provides maximum comfort for all Indonesian pilgrims.
