Ministry Partners with AI Startups to Combat Online Gambling Issues

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) is collaborating with national AI-based startups Gambit Hunter and Ambisius Lab to improve the quality of information in the digital space and accelerate efforts to eradicate online gambling.

The meeting took place at the Kemkomdigi office in Jakarta on Friday, April 10, 2026.

Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, emphasized that the collaboration is a concrete step by the government to harness AI technology in addressing urgent public challenges in the digital sphere.

“The innovations developed by Gambit Hunter and Ambisius Lab demonstrate that Indonesian talent is capable of creating AI-based solutions relevant to the nation’s needs,” Minister Meutya said in an official statement in Jakarta on Monday, April 13, 2026.

She explained that the government is promoting AI development as a key pillar of the national digital transformation, aiming to build ethical, responsible AI that enhances Indonesia’s competitiveness.

Minister Meutya highlighted Gambit Hunter’s innovation, which offers a new approach to combating online gambling through AI. The technology can identify and trace payment infrastructure, a critical component of illegal operations.

She also pointed to Ambisius Lab’s product, Ambisius News, which she considers vital in tackling the challenge of maintaining information quality in the digital space.

“Gambit Hunter’s approach is very much in line with government policy, namely, strengthening enforcement from the upstream to the infrastructure level, not just focusing on visible content.
