RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto convened a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, April 6, 2026, calling in Housing and Settlement Minister Maruarar Sirait, Higher Education, Research, and Technology Minister Brian Yuliarto, and PT Kereta Api Indonesia President Director Bobby Rasidin.

The discussion centered on plans to develop housing for residents living along railway tracks, including areas in Tanah Abang, Bandung, and Medan.

Minister Maruarar, widely known as Ara, said the initiative aims to utilize state-owned land near railways for public benefit. “In many places -- Tanah Abang, Bandung, Medan -- the land is very strategic. We must use it for the people, and the state must be present,” he explained, as quoted by Antara.

The minister noted that he had already inspected housing sites in Tanah Abang and, earlier that day, visited potential locations in Bandung with KAI’s president director. He stressed that much of the land currently occupied by irresponsible parties would be reclaimed by the state.

“Many state lands are controlled by others, and we will take them back for the benefit of the nation and the people, especially low-income and middle-income communities. Synergy is needed to accelerate housing development,” he said.

Meanwhile, Minister Brian Yuliarto emphasized that his ministry is ready to support the housing program with research and technological studies to ensure efficiency. ***
