RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian announced that the restoration of national roads in West Sumatra Province has reached 100 percent.

Speaking at a press conference on the acceleration of post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction in Sumatra at the Presidential Staff Office in Jakarta on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, Tito explained that recovery progress varies across provinces depending on the scale and impact of the disaster.

He noted that connecting roads, including bridges, have been restored, although bridges in West Sumatra remain temporary.

“National road access in West Sumatra is now 100 percent complete, especially in the Lebak area, but temporary. Logistics access is crucial. Logistics can pass through, it’s functional, so food logistics, in particular, are no longer an obstacle,” Minister Tito said.

He added that Aceh and North Sumatra suffered more severe damage, leaving recovery efforts behind West Sumatra. Several road sections in Aceh are still under repair, while in North Sumatra, some access points remain blocked by landslides. “Regional roads in Aceh are only 92 percent complete. In North Sumatra, 98 percent are,” he said.

Addressing questions about disaster victims who have not fully left refugee camps, Tito clarified that President Prabowo Subianto never stated that all refugees had vacated tents. “The President did not say that all refugee camps were no longer occupied by tents. What he said was that it was close to 100 percent, and close to 100 percent were not occupied by tents,” Minister Tito explained.

As head of the task force for accelerating post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction in Sumatra, Tito said his team conducted a detailed count, which he reported to President Prabowo to expedite recovery efforts.

Based on the latest census, the number of refugees still in tents has decreased significantly compared to initial data. However, he confirmed that some families remain in camps. “We have confirmed that there are 26 families, totaling 96 people, in Sekumur Village, Aceh Tamiang Regency,” Minister Tito said.
