RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto used the spirit of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri to strengthen ties with fellow Muslim-majority nations, placing phone calls to several world leaders after completing his domestic holiday agenda.
According to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, President Prabowo spoke with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan, Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, and King Abdullah II of Jordan. Teddy noted that additional leaders are expected to be contacted soon, pending confirmation from each country.
The calls followed President Prabowo’s Eid activities in Indonesia, beginning with takbiran (recitation of takbir) in Medan, North Sumatra, on Friday evening, March 20; the Eid prayer in Aceh Tamiang on Saturday morning; and a series of halalbihalal gatherings at the Presidential Palace later that day.
Teddy emphasized that the outreach was more than a festive tradition. “This silaturahmi reflects the close fraternity and cooperation among Muslim nations, while also reinforcing bilateral relations in a spirit of blessing,” he said, as quoted by Antara.
The Presidential Secretariat, in its official statement, underscored Indonesia’s role as a bridge of unity within the Islamic world. “This moment affirms that Indonesia, as the largest Muslim-majority country, is not only celebrating Eid but also advancing peace, cooperation, and solidarity."
"Eid becomes more than a celebration; it is a space for diplomacy, a strengthening of brotherhood, and a symbol of Indonesia’s commitment to global unity,” the statement read. ***
