RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana confirmed that she has coordinated with the police to monitor and prevent illegal levies (pungli) at various tourist destinations during the 2026 Eid holiday period. She said police supervision is aimed at addressing such practices, which have recently been complained about by travelers.
“The police will certainly monitor to reduce incidents like this,” Widiyanti said when met in the Blok M area, Jakarta, Monday, March 16, 2026.
In addition to monitoring, the Ministry of Tourism has also prepared complaint posts for people who experience illegal levies at tourist sites. “There are also complaint posts where grievances can be reported. Through Halo Wonderful, we provide complaint services via WhatsApp, Instagram DM, or email. The contact details will be shared,” she said.
She added that the public can utilize these various channels to report cases of illegal levies so they can be followed up promptly by the relevant authorities.
On the same occasion, Widiyanti also shared several tips for safe and comfortable travel during the 2026 Eid holiday, emphasizing that safety is the top priority.
“Take care of your family’s safety, check the weather conditions, monitor traffic, and always prepare yourself. Do not litter and keep destinations clean. Also, maintain your health, and if any issues arise, go to the nearest community health center,” she said.
Furthermore, she advised people seeking information about tourist destinations during the Eid holiday to visit the official Ministry of Tourism website, Indonesia.travel.
According to her, the site provides a wide range of information on destinations across Indonesia, including event schedules and destination options based on visitors’ travel timing and preferences.
