RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - A total of 23,259 passengers departed from Pasar Senen Station in Jakarta five days before Eid al-Fitr 2026, according to state-owned railway operator PT KAI Operation Region (Daop) 1 Jakarta Public Relations Manager Franoto Wibowo. He said train passenger mobility appeared to be increasing.

Franoto added that passenger traffic was high, with both departures and arrivals recorded as rising. “Arrivals at Pasar Senen Station reached 9,405 passengers,” he said during a press briefing in Jakarta on Monday, March 16, 2026.

The total passenger movement across the Daop 1 Jakarta area reached 75,523 people, consisting of 51,584 departing passengers and 23,939 arriving passengers. The Daop 1 area covers several major stations in Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek), including Pasar Senen, Gambir, Bekasi, Cikarang, and Karawang.

Franoto noted that today’s passenger volume was slightly lower compared to the previous day, when 52,008 departing passengers and 26,935 arriving passengers were recorded.

PT KAI is providing more than one million seats during the Eid travel period, which runs from March 11 to April 1. “The total number of tickets sold has reached 719,988, with the current average occupancy rate at around 67 percent,” Franoto said.

The highest ticket sales occurred during the pre-Eid travel period from March 11 to 20.

Meanwhile, Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Arifah Fauziah confirmed that facilities at Pasar Senen Station are women- and child-friendly during the 2026 Eid travel season. She said transportation services must be safe, comfortable, and provide optimal protection for women and children.

“The facilities at Pasar Senen Station are improving, and greater attention is being paid to the comfort of women and children,” Arifah said. (Gusti Panji/Lasti Martina)
