RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Ministry of Home Affairs has released new data showing that Indonesia’s population in 2025 will reach 288,315,089, with more than 69 percent in the productive age group.

Director General of Population and Civil Registration, Teguh Setyabudi, said the figure was obtained through a biometric data unification process. “The total population of Indonesia according to the Clean Population Data (DKB) for Semester II 2025 is 288,315,089,” he told reporters after attending the release of the DKB Semester II at the Bidakara Hotel, South Jakarta, on Thursday evening, March 12, 2026.

He explained that about 211 million people are required to have an electronic ID card (e-KTP), and around 206 million, or 97.47 percent, have completed biometric recording.

The government-managed population data is by name and address and contains more than 30 elements. All data is managed through the centralized Population Administration Information System (SIAK).

“Almost all residents required to have an e-KTP have completed their registration. Some have not, especially in remote areas or areas with limited access to services,” Teguh said.

He added that the completeness of this data is crucial to support government policies, including public services, development planning, and mapping social conditions.

Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Tomsi Tohir, emphasized the importance of strengthening digital-based population administration to support inclusive public services and encourage national digital transformation.

He said the mandate must be carried out with responsibility, collaboration, and dedication to ensure population administration services are more effective and reach all citizens.

“We need togetherness and strengthening, as the challenges we face are different from building a tool. We are simultaneously building and maintaining the performance of existing tools,” Tomsi said. (Misni Parjiati/Lasti Martina)
