RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Ministry of Creative Economy is strengthening cooperation with West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province to expand intellectual property (IP) events, build a solar-powered data center in Mandalika, and develop vocational programs in the digital sector.
Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, welcomed NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal in Jakarta on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, and expressed support for the province’s initiatives. He said data centers are crucial for several sub-sectors within the creative economy ecosystem, including the gig economy and digital nomads.
“There is a gig economy or digital nomad that can develop in Mandalika. Indeed, one of our assignments is also to support digital nomads, and this gig economy is also from the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs,” Riefky said at the ministry’s office.
The ministry also supports certification programs for event organizers, enabling them to take part in training and workshops. These programs aim to improve knowledge and skills in organizing national and international standard events. “So we can strive to create new IP events in NTB, such as exhibitions, music, and seminars,” Riefky said.
In addition, the ministry welcomed NTB’s plan to establish an international programming and coding school in collaboration with School 42. The school will be free of charge and is expected to produce talent in digital and multimedia fields aligned with the ministry’s sub-sectors.
Governor Iqbal responded positively to the ministry’s role in supporting these programs. He said NTB continues to encourage the development of the province's creative economy.
Currently, NTB has partnered with the provincial administrations of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and Bali. Together, they have agreed to build a “super hub” to strengthen national development, particularly in tourism and the creative economy.
“So we have agreed to integrate three things, which are tourism, creative economy, and energy. The direction is that we will build a super hub and connectivity from this collaboration,” Iqbal said. (Gusti Panji/Lasti Martina)
